Sr. Staff Homologation Engineer

Role Summary The Homologation Engineer will be part of a growing team that is setting new standards in automotive excellence by implementing Rivian’s vision and mission. This position will play a key role in defining regulatory requirements, interpreting regulations, supporting the company in designing and manufacturing vehicles, and achieving the necessary certifications and homologation. Responsibilities Assist Design and Engineering Teams with Identifying and Interpreting Regulatory Requirements Collaborate closely with design and engineering teams to ensure a clear understanding of relevant regulations. Monitor the Status of Applicable Global Regulations: Stay updated on changes to global vehicle regulations (e.g., FMVSS, ECE, GB) by subscribing to regulatory updates and newsletters. Communicate Current and Upcoming Requirements to the Engineering Team: Conduct regular formal and informal design reviews to discuss regulatory requirements. Use tools like JAMA and JIRA to document requirements and changes, ensuring they are integrated into the design process. Assist in Scheduling and Overseeing Regulatory Testing: Plan and schedule regulatory testing for different global markets. Coordinate with testing facilities and agencies to ensure compliance with testing protocols. Oversee Development and Population of Information Documents and Certificates: Manage the creation and updating of information documents necessary for EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA). Monitor Product Design Changes and Revise Compliance Documents: Keep track of product design changes and assess their impact on compliance documents and certifications. Qualifications 10+ years of experience in homologation at an auto manufacturer or test labs supporting automotive certification testing, preferably on an electric vehicle program. A robust understanding of the entire US and Canadian self-certification process and the EU/ECE Whole Vehicle Type Approval process. Demonstrated reliability and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Deep curiosity to understand the product and how the regulations may be applied. Experience with formal requirement management tools (Confluence, Jira, and Design Verification Plan and Report, etc.) preferred. A strong understanding of global active and passive safety regulations applicable to electric vehicles. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across the Rivian organization as well as with government authorities and test labs. Pay Disclosure Salary Range California Applicants: $176,200-$220,300 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).
