Northrop Grumman is hiring a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer to be the HALO Systems Test Lead. This role is in support of the Habitat and Logistics Outpost (HALO) program. HALO is the first pressurized habitable element of NASA's Gateway, a space station to be constructed in cis-lunar space. HALO is a complex system consisting of critical elements such as active thermal control, environmental control and life support systems, fault tolerant computing, high power systems, critical safety functions, crew interfaces in a volume and mass constrained structure. This position can be filled in either Dulles, VA or Gilbert, AZ.
The HALO Systems Test Lead will manage the HALO Systems Test team which is responsible for:
Development of system level test plan to align required system level verification activities as defined in the Systems Requirements Document Development of joint test plans with the customer (NASA) and their associated partner organizations (European Space Agency, Canadian Space Agency, etc.) for verification of interfaces with government furnished elements Coordinate/oversee subsystem level test plan development (led by the subsystem area) to ensure subsystem level testing is properly accounted for/incorporated at the system level Work with Integration & Test (I&T), engineering, and mission operations to develop test procedures/scripts for testing of HALO Develop and continuously manage the HALO Test Like You Fly (TLYF) plan Support appropriate components/subsystem level Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and post-test data reviewsManage system level TRRs and post-test phase data reviewsSupport I&T in test execution for duration of HALO test campaign including FRB/MRB support.Support HALO Systems Test Cost Account Manager in maintaining/status baseline cost and schedule plans including EVMS
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM or related discipline + 14 years of experience or Master’s Degree in STEM or related discipline + 12 years of experience or PhD Degree in STEM or related discipline + 9 years of experienceHas participated in the full program lifecycle of a space program, from requirements development through integration/test/verification.Has led or been the primary contributor for a subsystem or subassembly within spacecraft designHas supported the evaluation and implementation of significant contractual changesPreferred Qualifications:
I&T experience on prime integrated systems (not component/subsystem) Experience developing system test campaign from requirements to test plans to procedures Experience developing joint test plans with customer a plus Experience with supporting spacecraft mission operationsExperience with significant mid program contractual change(s)Experience with test in one or more of the following areas: Active thermal control systems (fluid pumps) integrated with environmental control systems (heat exchangers) Life Support SystemsFault tolerant/multi string computing and power architectures Systems requiring crew interactionSalary Range: $162,500.00 - $282,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
