Position Title: Sr. Substation Automation Engineer
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week
Summary of Duties: Design, implement, and maintain automation systems and associated equipment for power substations. Configure and test RTUs/PLCs for protection and controls schemes of Medium and High Voltage substations systems. Develop new application solutions with IEC61850 or other communication protocols relevant in the energy automation field. Design and/or support elaboration of Control Logic Diagrams, System Network Architecture, Signal Lists, and Functional Design Specifications documents during design phase of the project. Prepare Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures and testing environments for customer projects. Be a technical leader in projects or lead other team members in project activities. Be one of our primary customer interfaces, including trouble shooting and commissioning support. Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, implementation, and commissioning phases. 75% National and International (Germany and Mexico.)
Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power System Engineering or a related field or a related field and four (4) years’ experience in the job offered or as or an acceptable alternate occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Master's degree and two (2) years’ experience in the job offered or an acceptable alternate occupation. Position requires experience with the following: Ability to ready and fully understand DC and AC schematics, three- and one-line diagrams for Medium and/or High Voltage substations systems; Knowledge of Siemens, GE, SEL or ABB automation products and associated software; Experience with communication protocols such as IEC61850, DNP, Profibus, OPC, Modbus, IEC103, IEC104; Factory and Site testing experience in automation and control systems; Work experience with power utilities as customers.
