Position Summary

Plug Power is an industry leader with respect to providing hydrogen and hydrogen-powered fuel cell systems for material handling equipment, backup power systems, and emerging on-road applications. As the Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development and integration of Plug Power’s fuel cell systems. You will play a pivotal role in driving the advancement of our technology, ensuring its reliability, performance, and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional communication and project management skills along with a well-rounded knowledge base in systems engineering. This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow an interdisciplinary engineering skillset in mechanical, electrical and controls engineering while contributing to the growth of a cutting-edge company at the forefront of the clean energy revolution. This individual must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and be willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced engineering organization.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Research and develop system requirements for new fuel cell applications conforming to the applicable codes and standards. Create system and subsystem specification documentation.Conduct thorough system-level analyses, including risk assessments, failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA), and system performance evaluations.Create, read and interpret Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)Develop and deploy state machines and controls solutions for the design and optimization of fuel cell systems, considering factors such as efficiency, performance, cost and reliabilityCreate and manage methods for data acquisition and interpretation of system informationDevelop and validate key metrics through system modeling (mechanical/electrical), test plans and execution to maintain key product attributes including efficiency, performance, cost, reliability and compliance with codes and standards.Build effective internal relationships with colleagues, work both inter-departmentally and cross-functionally as needed for project assignmentsProvide ongoing communication and updates to senior leadership regarding project progress and escalate priority issues so that obstacles can be clearedRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions.

Education and Experience

BS in Engineering or a STEM related discipline required, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, systems engineering preferredMinimum of five years of related work experience, preferably in fuel cell systems or related fieldStrong knowledge and understanding of fuel cell systems, including system architecture, components, controls, and integrationDemonstrated aptitude for systems thinking and creative problem solvingAbility to communicate complex concepts simply and efficientlyDynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholdersAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyTeamwork oriented and focusedExcellent task-oriented follow-throughAbility to travel as neededComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: C, MATLAB (including Simulink), SQL, MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Outlook)

Pay Rate:

$92,300.00 - $138,400.00
