About the Role:  

As a Senior Systems Engineer on Netskope's Monitoring Team, you will be instrumental in enhancing the company's monitoring capabilities. Your role involves leveraging your quick learning ability to optimize systems using scripting languages like Python and Bash, while focusing on platforms such as Grafana and Prometheus. You'll collaborate with internal teams to configure systems, create dashboards, and troubleshoot installations, all aimed at ensuring the performance and scalability of Netskope’s cloud services.

Responsibilities:  

Provide expert troubleshooting and guidance for monitoring systems (e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, etc), creating dashboards, and resolving installation challenges. Utilize scripting skills to automate and optimize operational workflows. Support and enhance infrastructure using configuration management tooling (e.g. Helm, SaltStack, Ansible, etc.). Collaborate with teams to drive improvements in system performance and robustness, encouraging open communication and learning. Integrate data from aggregation platforms like Sumo Logic, ELK, and DataDog for insightful analysis and recommendations.

Requirements:  

Proficiency in configuration management systems with practical experience in their application. Experience with monitoring platforms and data aggregation tools, such as Sumo Logic, Elasticsearch, or DataDog. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies. Experience with working with private or public cloud services in a distributed, highly available, and large scale production environment. Experience with analyzing systems and software to drive the improvement of availability, performance, scale, and efficiency of microservices. Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and software design. Experience with reviewing and supplying non-functional business requirements and functional specification. Demonstrated ability to debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks. Demonstrated ability and willingness to act as subject matter expert, tracking technology/industry trends, and to provide data driven reasoning for recommending technology paths.

Preferred Experience:  

Strong understanding of scripting languages such as Python and Bash. 3+ years of experience in developing and managing monitoring solutions, with emphasis on Grafana, Prometheus or SumoLogic. Ability to create insightful Grafana dashboards and perform detailed troubleshooting of monitoring installations.

Education:  

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
