Sr. Tax Accountant – The Auto Club Group

What you will do:

Prepares in-depth financial analyses and research to support and facilitate timely management decisions and/or financial reports or statements.   Analyzes and evaluates financial implications of business decisions or transactions on financial results.  Researches, evaluates and interprets financial data using advanced and emerging financial techniques and tools.  Develops and manipulates complex financial models for support and analysis of business initiatives.  Works with departments to ensure an understanding of financial consequences resulting from various actions. Provides support for internal and external auditors by preparing complex analytical schedules, responding to inquiries, researching issues and implementing recommended changes.  Develops, designs, tests and documents system changes or upgrades.  Represents finance on corporate teams and initiatives.

Responsible for preparing federal, state and local tax workpapers and tax returns.  Analyzing data and applying relevant tax law.  Perform tax research. Involvement in audits. Provide support to the implementation and ongoing activities of the tax department process

Sr. Tax Accountant will earn a competitive salary of $75,000 - $85,000 annually with annual bonus potential based on performance.

We’re looking for candidates who:

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.

Experience:

Experience as a Tax Analyst/Sr. Tax Accountant or similar positionPreparing and developing tax returnsUsing automated accounting and/or management reporting systemsPreparing, analyzing and interpreting in-depth analyses of financial and or statistical dataModel development and manipulation using Microsoft Office productsOverseeing and guiding assigned individual deliverables to successful completion

Knowledge and Skills:

Communicate effectively with others both orally and in writingAnalyze complex financial dataDemonstrate decision making and problem solvingDerive actionable conclusions from analyzing data and informationParticipate on project teamsWork independentlyMulti-taskWork irregular or extended hours as required

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

Master's Degree in Tax or Accounting CPA designationCertified Public Accountant and/or Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Tax

Knowledge and Skills:

Property and Casualty Insurance Industry and conceptsPremium taxesSales/use taxesProperty taxesPeopleSoft/Workday financial reporting system

Knowledge of:

Federal, state and local tax laws Strong stress testing skills

Experience in/with:

Applying Internal Revenue Code and Regulations and State tax lawsWorking within a corporate tax department and/or CPA firmPreparing corporate and state income tax returnsCompleting income tax work papers for income tax provisions and tax returnsPreparing sales and use tax returns and analyzing sales and use tax dataPreparing property tax returns and assisting in auditsInvolvement in analyzing 1099 data and preparationDeveloping spreadsheets and work papers and experience using Microsoft OfficeExperience utilizing corporate income tax return preparation softwarePerforming tax research

Work Environment 

This is a hybrid work arrangement (time spent in office and remote). Depending on the employee's role and leadership's assessment, some employees will come in to an ACG facility on a weekly basis, a monthly basis, or on an "as needed" basis for key meetings and collaborative activities. Most employees will be required to come into the office, at a minimum, for important departmental meetings or teambuilding events.
