What You’ll Do

SimpliSafe is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join the Finance team as an integral part of the tax function. Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, the Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for supporting direct and indirect tax functions, including federal and state corporate income tax, sales and use tax, and franchise tax as well as special projects. The ideal candidate is an independent, dependable, and detail-oriented self-starter.

Primary responsibilities include:

Preparing quarterly and annual income tax provision under ASC 740 Gathering tax return information to support the preparation of federal, state, and foreign income tax returns prepared by our external consulting firms Preparing federal and state tax return extension requests and estimated tax payment calculations Preparing indirect tax returns including franchise, business, property, and other non-income-based tax filings Ensuring timely filing of sales and use tax returns Assisting with month-end close tax including reconciliations of taxes payable and sales tax reconciliation as well as fluctuation analyses Assisting with tax planning and forecasting Assisting with state tax examinations and notices received from tax authorities Processing tax payments with coordination from Accounting teams (i.e. Accounts Payable and General Ledger teams) Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and identifying potential areas of risk Assisting with ad hoc and special tax projects What You’ll Bring  5+ years of combined public accounting and/or industry experience in tax Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or related field Experience with corporate tax provision and compliance Experience with indirect tax compliance  Outstanding organization skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Avalara and NetSuite, a plus Experience with international tax and transfer pricing a plus What Values You’ll Share Customer Obsessed - Building deep empathy for customers and developing strong, long-term relationships with them.
