ABOUT THE POSITION

We are looking for an energetic, highly organized and detail oriented individual to join our Technical Accounting team here at Avantus.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Assist in the evaluation of the accounting treatment for significant transactions. Research applicable GAAP and SEC accounting and disclosure requirements for proposed transactions. Review contracts to identify technical accounting matters and prepare analysis and memorandums. Prepare financial information and disclosures for financial statements in accordance with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Assist in the external audit and review process by providing audit support and relevant schedules. Prepare balance sheet analysis and record journal entries, as well as related balance sheet reconciliation for technical financial statement line items. Review financial data for accuracy, identify problems and support day-to-day operations. Ability to research and reconcile discrepancies and verifying documents in accordance with accounting procedures and policies. Work closely with project teams to provide support and ensure technical guidance is followed. Assist with compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 key controls and processes including: Testing and documentation of key controls Coordinating with external audit to facilitate walkthroughs and annual control testing Identifying control gaps or required updates to existing controls based on business changes Proactively work on initiatives to implement operational accounting efficiencies through process improvements and control enhancements. Other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

BA/BS in Accounting or Finance CPA 4+ years of experience in accounting, with experience in public accounting or at a public company highly preferred. Knowledge of GAAP, SEC and SOX practices and processes. Excelled written and oral communication skills, as well as a strong attention to detail. Proficient with Microsoft Excel. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while adapting quickly to maintain deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and clients.
