Job Summary We are currently seeking a Chemical Lab Technician at our Natrona Heights Operations. This position uses analytical chemistry instrumentation, procedures, and provides analytical quantitative and qualitative analyses on non-routine samples such as metals and raw materials. Essential Functions + Able to work safely and responsibly with Hydrochloric Acid, Nitric Acid, and Hydrofluoric Acid among other chemical and reagents in the laboratory. + Proved analyses of metals, raw materials, and other process materials used in the making of steel. Using various analytical procedures including Graphite furnace AA, and ICP. + Proved results pertaining to new metal and raw material standards used in the processing of steel using the above analytical procedures. + Provide daily routine maintenance and occasional repairs as needed for laboratory instrumentation. + Work on new instrumentation and procedures to determine if they can be utilized in an everyday analytical lab situation. Develop written procedures. + Perform dissolution of metal/powder samples utilizing both hotplate and microwave digestion procedures. + Prepare and standardize reagents, chemical solutions, and other compounds required for analytical analyses. + Train other analytical and production personnel on procedures, methodology and result reporting. Discuss and explain procedures and results from outside firms.
