Sr. Technologist Backup Engineer.

deploy backup infrastructure + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices, compliance standards, and security controls across all storage platforms. + Engage in agile development cycles, delivering assigned tasks within monthly sprints, fostering a culture of trust, communication, and teamwork. + Utilize data analytics to monitor usage patterns and trends, proactively identifying and resolving issues within enterprise backup pipelines. + Provide lifecycle support for enterprise backup solutions, including leading managed services resources and setting platform maintenance guidelines. + Act as the subject matter expert designing backup solutions, defining budgetary needs, and liaising with vendors to stay abreast of industry advancements. + Collaborate with infrastructure teams to architect backup solutions aligned with business requirements, ensuring seamless integration with data center, server, database, and network infrastructure. + Conduct capacity planning exercises in collaboration with managed services resources, proactively addressing potential space constraints. **Requirements:** + 3+ years of hands-on experience in Designing, configuring, deploying, managing Enterprise Backup. **Nice to have:** + Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate backup management tasks. + Knowledge of cloud storage services + Familiarity with software-defined storage (SDS) solutions + Understanding of backup and disaster recovery principles and technologies for storage systems. + Exposure to DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) in storage environments. + Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere specifically in relation to backup. + Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in healthcare or other relevant industries affecting storage solutions. + Familiarity with advanced storage features like deduplication, compression, and encryption. + Ability to conduct performance tuning and optimization of backup systems for enhanced efficiency. + Experience with software-defined storage solutions for hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) deployments. + Familiarity with data migration tools and methodologies for seamless movement of data between storage systems. + Exposure to machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques for predictive analytics in storage management. + Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders on storage-related projects and initiatives. + Experience integrating Netbackup with various enterprise storage targets + Experience working with regulated environments such as FDA, TUV, and SOX + Familiarity with DNS and configuration for backup related configurations Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. + Develops, documents, and configures systems specifications that conform to defined architecture standards, address business requirements, and processes. + Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting hardware and software compliance and security standards. + Evaluates interface between hardware and software, operational requirements and characteristics of overall system. + Establishes and documents system design, parameters and formats, ensures hardware and software systems functionality, performance and compatibility, and coordinates and/or modifies system parameters in terms of configurations, such as existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities. + Actively identifies system functionality or performance deficiencies, executes changes to existing systems, and tests functionality of the system to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, data integrity, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage. + May document testing and maintenance of system updates, modifications, and configurations. + May act as a liaison with key technology vendor technologists or other business functions. + Function Specific: Strategically design technology solutions that meets the needs and goals of the company and its customers/users. + Leverages platform process expertise to assess if existing standard platform functionality will solve a business problem or customization solution would be required. + Gather and prioritize integration requirements. + Test the quality of a product and its ability to perform a task or solve a problems. + Perform basic maintenance and performance optimization procedures in each of the primary operating systems. + Technology: Using computational thinking to define technological solutions to real life problems. + Design technology that allows for the optimal user experience and broad accessibility. + Ability to document detailed technical system specifications based on business system requirements. **SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM:** Typically an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. Analysis provided is in-depth in nature and often provides recommendations on process improvements. **Communication and Influence:** Communicates with senior internal and external customers and vendors. Exchange information of facts, statuses, ideas and issues to achieve objective, and influence decision-making. **Leadership and Talent Management:** May provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area. May manage projects, requiring delegation of work and review of others' work product. **Required Knowledge and Experience:** Requires advanced knowledge of job area combining breadth and depth, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
