About the Role The Senior Telecommunication Engineer provides technical and managerial leadership in the technical design planning operation maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of SelectQuote’s Telecommunication’s systems and networks including SIP trunk routing. They ensure the efficient and reliable operation of all telecom infrastructure and services while also providing technical subject matter expertise to internal and external business partners across all divisions and lines of business. This person will be responsible for driving system availability geographic redundancy efforts and technical design documentation. The Senior Telecommunication Engineer also leads SelectQuote’s number reputation management strategy documentation management and implementation. They directly manage external number reputation partners and consult with business stakeholders on best practices and implementation to ensure that SelectQuote maintains a clean phone number brand reputation at the best cost possible. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Design implement and support telecommunications systems and networks including SIP trunk routing. Ensure the efficient and reliable operation of all telecom infrastructure and services including establishing promoting and maintaining SLAs. Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues as they arise including SIP trunk routing and number reputation management. Perform and oversee regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure the systems operate reliably efficiently and securely. Work with internal teams to identify and implement solutions to improve telecommunications infrastructure and services. Stay up-to-date with the latest telecommunications technologies and trends including SIP trunk routing and number reputation management. Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure the timely delivery of telecommunications services. Develop and maintain documentation for telecommunications systems and networks including SIP trunk routing and number reputation management. Monitor SIP trunk routing traffic and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Ensure SIP trunk routing is properly configured to support high call volumes and scalability. Collaborate with SIP service providers to ensure seamless communication and call routing. Monitor and optimize SIP trunk routing performance to ensure high availability and reliability. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and legal teams to ensure a consistent brand image via number reputation management Manage number reputation management vendors Design implement and maintain number reputation management best practices and change management processes Mentor junior telecommunications engineers. Skills/Abilities: High level of self-motivation; ability to accomplish goals independently Ability to reason and think logically Strong troubleshooting skills in order to identify problems quickly Strong project management knowledge of methods and practices Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent customer relationship skills Excellent knowledge of infrastructure solutions and topology related to Telecommunications and Contact Center solutions Excellent organizational skills and high level attention to detail Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in IT related field (or equivalent work experience) required At least 10 years of experience in telecommunications engineering or related IT field Strong technical background including expertise in telecommunications protocols and technologies. Excellent customer service interpersonal communication problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Experience with network design implementation and maintenance. Knowledge of telecommunications regulations and standards. Experience with project management and budgeting Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation. Physical Requirements: Work is performed indoors with potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to office work. Could periodically travel to other office and operational sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.
