The Senior Test Instrumentation Engineer will work in setup and operation of Optical Measurement Systems (ARAMIS, Video Image Correlation, Leica Laser Trackers), Instrumentation, and NASA Data Acquisition Systems for Structural Strength Testing.
Setup, calibrate, and operate Trilion ARAMIS camera systems to measure full field of view strain and deflection of speckled area-of-interest.
Setup, calibrate, and operate Correlated Solutions VIC-3D camera systems to measure full field of view strain and deflection of speckled area-of-interest.
Interface ARAMIS and VIC-3D systems to ET30 SLTMAS data system software to record data in STLMAS dataset.
Job Duties will include\:
Coordination with NASA project level customers across organizations to ensure mission success. Work with a diverse team of civil servants and contractors to design, develop, setup, and perform structural testing on space flight qualification hardware, and other mission critical hardware. Participate in safety meetings, task meetings, design reviews, and test readiness reviews as requested to support ESSCA and customer requirements. Develop and deliver reports and presentations as requested to support ESSCA and customer requirements via Power Point and other various software packages. Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field with 25 years of experience in the aerospace field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with a minimum 19 years of experience, Masters with at least 23 years of experience, or BS with at least 25 years of experience.
Additional Requirements\:
Knowledge of required cameras, lighting, lenses, cabling, calibration techniques, and speckle patterns required to achieve customer-specified field-of-views and accuracies Familiarity with OSHA standards. Excellent verbal and writing skills.The ideal candidate will be an Engineer with a strong sampling of the following skills and a desire to learn in depth\:
Experience with data acquisition system. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software applications. Basic instrumentation application - utilizing strain gauges, thermocouples, and displacement devices. Familiarity with Machine Vision Image Processing/Correlation concepts and methods. Experience with National instruments LabVIEW development software and or MATLAB for instrumentation acquisition and control. Code generation in Windows or Linux operating systems. Software quality control using QT or GTest libraries. Raspberry Pi/Arduino, Python or C#/C . National Instruments Hardware. Desire to conduct detailed hands-on work in a Lab testing environment on sub scale models to full scale structures in some of NASA’s largest indoor and outdoor test facilities. Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%).

Attendance\:
