Title: Sr. Trade Compliance Manager

Position Summary

The Sr. Trade Compliance Manager role at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. provides an outstanding chance to lead and craft our compliance strategy in a global organization. You'll collaborate with experts and ensure flawless adherence to trade laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Corporate GTC Team and local resources, including Senior Leadership, Commercial, Logistics, Finance, Sourcing, etc., to develop and drive strategic direction of trade compliance processes. Ensure robust compliance management that meets current requirements of countries and regions, focusing on local import and export regulations and auditing of daily operations.Assist the Director of Trade Compliance in developing local strategies to support compliance with US export regulations and corporate and local global trade compliance management systems.Collaborate closely with the Corporate GTC Team to channel communications and training to relevant personnel within the region and advance issues as necessary.Handle customer issues related to ongoing export control and sanctions due diligence screening and review of transactions.Improve policy knowledge, awareness, and efficiency of export control and training across all businesses with transactions in the region.Manage processes to reduce organizational risk, ensuring all activities align with Thermo Fisher Scientific policies, standards, and applicable laws in export control.Assist in deploying companywide initiatives related to Global Trade Compliance, such as the Global Trade Compliance Management System (GTCMS) and any automated GTC tools or systems implementations.Collaborate with customs officers and external customers to address customs and import regulations.Identify and lead complex projects and change initiatives impacting future business goals and GTC performance improvement.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Transportation/Logistics, Business, or International Trade, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.12+ years of experience in compliance management within a multi-national company, with proven experience managing compliance activities.Proficiency in the local language and English.Extensive knowledge and expertise in Greater China HS classification, FTA, customs valuation, and Transfer Pricing.Experience in direct supervision of personnel and team development.Ability to travel as needed, up to 10%.Strong problem-solving skills and the ambition to learn and use PPI to improve processes.Demonstrate Thermo Fisher Scientific values – Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement.Excellent analytical and statistical skills, including the ability to develop and measure metrics and complex logistics models.Solid presentation, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to work across countries and cultures.Strong collaborative leadership style with the ability to inspire change across multiple organizational levels and functions.
