ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Underwriting Assistant will provide general underwriting support to the Department including the processing of policies, endorsements, and other client-related correspondence for new and existing accounts.
Binder and policy issuance.Processing of all endorsements and related correspondence including complex accounts.Requests additional information for subjectivities, endorsements, surplus lines taxes.Issues notices of cancellation, non-renewal notices or reinstatements within authority.Responsible for ensuring accurate documentation is in the underwriting file as it relates to binders, policies, endorsements, and other processing tasks.Accurately review/file/document accounts and refer concerns outside authority.Professionally responds to correspondence via e-mail and phone.Develops relationships and works collaboratively with peers, internal and external customers.Calculates additional and return premiums for endorsements within authority.Understands policy language and is able to execute with minimal direction.Is extremely detail oriented and uses sound judgement/rational to problem solve. Provides backup support for Team Lead and submission clearance processing.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma required.Bachelor’s Degree preferred.Minimum of 3 years of commercial lines insurance experience.Experience with Commercial Casualty coverages is ideal.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must possess strong analytical and prioritization skills.Proven capability for client servicing & relationship building.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Proven capability to verbalize and implement innovative ideas.Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
