Key Responsibilities:
Qualification and Maintenance: Obtain and maintain AP1000 Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) Instructor qualifications. This involves qualifying as a Classroom Instructor, Simulator Instructor, and Instructional Material Developer. Regularly attend training sessions and pass necessary examinations to maintain qualifications. Lesson Plan Development: Develop, modify, and review lesson plans to ensure accuracy and relevancy. Utilize adult learning theories and creative techniques such as role-playing and instructional games to enhance trainee engagement. Instructional Duties: Conduct classroom, simulator, and laboratory training sessions. Prepare and administer examinations, ensuring that trainees achieve a high level of proficiency and understanding. Continuous Improvement: Incorporate operating experience and industry best practices into training materials. Maintain training records and materials in the VISION database/Learning Management System (LMS).
Essential Functions:
-Qualification Maintenance (20%):
Attend AP1000/PWR training classes and complete self-study modules. Pass AP1000/PWR systems, procedures, and simulator examinations. Maintain qualifications through continuous training and requalification exams.
-Development of Training Materials (45%):
Gather information to create or update training materials for Operations and I&C. Ensure materials meet industry standards and effectively evaluate trainee performance. Utilize creative learning techniques to promote active participation.
-Instructional Duties (30%):
Prepare and deliver classroom, simulator, and laboratory training. Administer and grade exams, ensuring secure handling of examination materials. Coordinate the production and distribution of training materials.
-Additional Responsibilities (5%):
Attend meetings and support other departments with operational expertise. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering or Nuclear Engineering preferred. 3 years of experience in Navy Nuclear Operations, Commercial Reactor Operations, or as a Nuclear Power Plant Engineer/I&C Technician with relevant nuclear experience. 2 years of instructional experience with certifications such as SRO Instructor, Navy Nuclear Instructor, or Commercial Reactor Operator License. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database programs. Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to travel internationally up to 25% and work occasional long hours, rotating shifts, and weekends.
