SSGA COO – Strategic IMS and Alpha Program, SVP

The State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) Global Head of Investments Technology and Business Services is seeking to hire a senior leader to manage the multi-year strategic transformational State Street Investment Management Services (IMS) and Alpha program on behalf of Global Advisors (GA). This role will report directly to the SSGA Global Head of Investments Technology and Business Services and will play a critical role in defining and leading the strategy, operating model, delivery and management of the technology and business services provided to Global Advisors by the State Street Affiliates in Global Delivery and Investment Management Services. This role is part of the GA Chief Operating Officer (COO) organization. This leader will be a strategic partner and advisor to the Global Head of Investments Technology and Business Services for all the technology capabilities and business services outsourced to the State Street affiliates. The leader will function as the central point of coordination for the transformation program for Global Advisors collaborating with our partners in with the State Street affiliates to define the future state operating model, services provided and measurement of service quality including contractual oversight. The leader will provide strategic management of the program engaging all COO and GA functions for daily execution and delivery of the strategic outcomes for the company. In addition, this leader will be the conduit of key information flow to the SSGA Operating group and other firmwide executive stakeholders. Partnering with corporate and bank functions across Global Delivery (GD), Alpha and Global Technology Services (GTS) to enable a target state optimal operating model for the GA business.

The leadership role will include strategic, operational, project and relationship management responsibilities collaborating with colleagues and peers within Global Advisors (GA) and the wider State Street organization. The role will manage the multi-year transformational program enabling the platforms and business services leveraged by the global advisor’s business that are provided by our State Street affiliates. The role will provide an opportunity to work across Global Advisors, State Street Bank and Holding Company, the broader investment management industry with key strategic business partners. The key objectives are to define the future state technology platforms and business services supporting the Global Advisors business related to the outsourced middle and back-office services provided by State Street Bank transforming how the business operates today increasing our operating leverage and competitive advantage in the marketplace. The leader will be accountable for driving results, supporting strategic business outcomes, improving processes, fostering collaboration and alignment, to achieve more efficient operating and risk managed environment.

As a key stakeholder in enabling the COO and GA organization’s ability to execute on their priorities, the successful candidate will be highly resourceful, self-motivated and possess strong written and verbal communication, multi-functional organizational management and technology and data analytical skills. The individual will also possess a high level of personal and professional integrity and sound judgment with the ability to work effectively with senior business leaders across Global Advisors and State Street.

Responsibilities

Management of the Global Advisors Strategic IMS and Alpha Program

Partners with COO leadership team to set strategic and operational objectives, aligning to GA strategic priorities, to ensure the COO organization and our colleagues in the State Street Affiliates are exceeding in technology and business service delivery to the Global Advisors Business.Builds strong relationships across the COO, GA and State Street Executive Leadership team and their leadership teams to drive a combined roadmap to deliver the transformational program.Partner with COO and GA senior leadership team to actively identify and implement process changes and organizational optimization as part of the transformation strategy accounting for future business requirements.Accountability for developing a strong risk and control culture across the ecosystem embedding the control frameworks within the future state technology platforms and business processes/services.Drives organizational, team and individual development enhancing productivity, team collaboration against defined measurable outcomes to achieve the one State Street objectives.Responsible for working across the GA organization developing multi-year roadmaps for each business functional area and prioritizing the technology and business services delivery against the one State Street business outcomes.Manages and delivers the transformation program in collaboration with the GD and Alpha State Street Organizations defining the future state operating model for the outsourced Front, Middle and back-office services that will support the Global Advisors business.Responsible for the financial management and budgeting of the multi phased program for Global Advisors coordinating with corporate finance and program leaders across State Street Bank, GD and GTS to provide the holistic program financial management and reporting.Leverages the latest technology including artificial intelligence to transform the way the business services are provided; data and insights are consumed reducing operational risk and enhancing operating leverage within the future state operating model.

Strategic Initiatives (SI)

Defines and manages the program while being conscious of other interim projects/initiatives and commitments that are aligned to both the COO and GA key priorities. In partnership with other key members of the COO leadership team, the leader develops a holistic view of critical path projects and how they sequence with the transformational program delivering on the shared organizational objectives and goals. Ensures alignment among key GA stakeholders, i.e., Investments, Global Client Coverage Group (CCG), and Chief Business Office (CBO).Partners closely with the GA CAO Office, COO Head of Business Operations to coordinate GA strategic Initiatives and how they will be sequenced within the overall transformational program.Enables the delivery of new capabilities supporting an evolving business encompassing global multi asset classes and alternatives while managing the strategic outcomes of the transformational program. Identifies risks and issues that could impact the successful execution of transformational program and strategic priorities; escalates issues which the COO and other GA and State Street executive leaders should be aware of and presents solutions to resolve the root cause and/or mitigate the risk.Partners on GA/COO organizational initiatives driving operational efficiencies, risk excellence and an improved client & employee end-user experience as part of the transformational program.

Job Requirements:

Minimum of 20 years of executive management experience in financial services.A minimum of 15 years of experience in transformational program leadership roles including technology strategy, multi-year program delivery and third-party service strategy.A minimum of 20 years of experience in managing, global high performing cross organizational teams focused on technology and operational service delivery.Minimum of 15 years of Institutional Financial services global program management experience required.Global multi-jurisdictional experience preferred.Undergraduate Degree required.Advanced master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MSc) or other professional certification (e.g., CFA) preferred.

Salary Range:

$225,000 - $337,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
