Stabling Manager- LA Equestrian Center
POSITION: Stabling Manager DEPARTMENT: Operations REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Equestrian Operations FLSA STATUS: Exempt Summary As the world’s leading venue management company and producer of live event experiences, ASM Global is the preeminent management and content partner with over 350 venues worldwide. The LA Equestrian Center is a unique 75-acre equestrian venue located in the heart of Griffith Park which serves both the public, equine boarders, and a variety of equestrian/special events. Job Summary:The Stabling Manager will oversee the daily operations of the barn, ensuring cleanliness, maintenance, and the well-being of both horses and staff. This role involves collaboration with trainers, clients, and administrative teams to maintain smooth and efficient management of the stabling areas. As a key point of contact for trainers, boarders, and staff, the Stabling Manager will ensure safety, health protocols, and optimal operations at the facility. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in horse care, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively resolve issues while maintaining a positive environment. Key Responsibilities: + Barn Operations: Oversee the daily cleaning, organization, and maintenance of the barns, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for both animals and staff. + Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Collaborate with management to develop, implement, and continuously improve SOPs, policies, and training for efficient barn and stable area management. + Client and Trainer Liaison: Act as the primary contact for trainers and clients on-site, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and fostering positive relationships. Build rapport with clients as both an advocate for their horses and a knowledgeable expert on facility operations. + Client Engagement: Respond to inquiries from prospective boarders, conduct tours of the facility, and facilitate the onboarding process for new clients. + Boarding and Documentation: Work with the Operations Administrative Manager to ensure all horses have updated boarding agreements, vaccinations, and required documentation. + Horse Intake Process: Develop and manage a streamlined intake process for new horses, including a comprehensive welcome packet for new boarders. + Barn Records: Maintain, at all times, accurate barn charts and track horse movements to ensure proper records for all animals on-site. + Feeding Program: Oversee the alfalfa consumption and feeding program to ensure all horses receive appropriate nutrition. + Inventory and Supply Management: Ensure that inventory is controlled, deliveries are tracked, and supply usage is properly documented. Work with the Finance Department to meet inventory deadlines and set policies to prevent unauthorized access. + Waste Management: Oversee safe and efficient manure disposal in accordance with environmental regulations. + Staff Supervision and Training: Supervise barn staff, ensuring daily tasks are completed, and develop ongoing training programs to improve service quality. Collaborate with overnight and private security staff to educate them on horse health and situations that require attention. + Scheduling and Payroll: Manage staff schedules, track hours worked, and ensure accurate time clock punches. + Health and Welfare Oversight: Ensure the health and welfare of all animals, including boarders and day-use/event animals, through established health processes. + Safety and Rules Enforcement: Develop and enforce safety rules for barn areas to ensure the well-being of animals, staff, and visitors. + Collaboration with Maintenance: Work closely with the maintenance team to address barn repairs and facility upkeep. Notify clients of any repairs or ongoing projects. + Quarantine and Biohazard Protocols: Establish and enforce quarantine procedures for sick animals to minimize risk to others. + Security and Emergency Planning: Collaborate on the development and implementation of security protocols and emergency evacuation plans for the barn and stabling areas. + Ride-On Contracts: Manage ride-on contracts, ensuring compliance with facility policies and preventing unauthorized access. + Temporary Boarding: Oversee the intake process for temporary boarding requests and ensure proper care for short-term boarders. + Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as required to ensure the smooth operation of the equestrian facility. Education and Experience: + Proven experience in an equine-related role, with hands-on knowledge of barn operations and horse care at a large, multi-disciplined facility. + Experience in inventory control and supplier relationship management, with an annual audit of supply sources for cost efficiency. + Previous supervisory experience, including managing a team and creating work schedules. + Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to meet the needs of equine owners. + Proficiency in using computer systems to track barn activities, including boarding, day use, and event bookings, and effectively communicating this information to management. Skills and Abilities: + Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g., Equine Studies, Agriculture) or 3-5 years of relevant experience. + Fluency in Spanish to effectively communicate with Spanish-speaking staff and clients. + Ability to multitask and provide daily reports to management. + Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork abilities. + A valid driver’s license is required; a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is preferred. + Dependable, reliable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
