Staff, Software Engineer
Position Summary...Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

Enterprise Business Services @ IDC Bangalore and Chennai in India are focused on data driven, highly optimized products and implementations in the areas of Finance, Procurement, Human Resources and Retail business functions for multiple Walmart markets with open stack technologies and other ERP tools.

 
What you'll do:

As a Staff Software Engineer you will be part of the People Technology Payroll technology team. We are defining the leading edge of technology to provide innovative solutions to our business customers to help support the millions of Associates employed at Walmart.

As part of Payroll technology, we have embarked on an exciting journey of modernising and transforming the Payroll platform which supports the 2.5 M US associates.

Knowledge of Software architecture, Distributed systems, Scalability, Design patterns, Disaster Recovery.Experience building a enterprise platform or product that are highly reliable, and scalable using tech stacks Python, Scala, Spark, Java, React Native, Node JS, React JS, and Goggle cloud Platforms.Provide technology guidance to senior engineers in applying the right architectural pattern for the modernisation of the applications by analysing the gaps between existing architecture and new business requirements.Drive technical impact analysis, conduct RCAs with corrective actions for both short & long term fixes and prevent them from re-occurring.Develop close partnerships with our Product, People API, and Workday teams to drive innovation as we deliver on commitments to our business customers.Operating with excellence – Set an example in managing to KPIs, delivering excellence, presenting at all levels, and developing yourself and others.Drive, build and optimize CI/CD (continuous integration and development) pipeline for faster delivery. Continuously improve, optimize, and identify opportunities for improved software development life cycle.

What you'll bring:

Technical Proficiency in one or more of the languages such as Python, Scala, Spark, React Native, Node JS, React JS, Java, Full stackDeep working knowledge of all aspects of Cloud native distributed system development -  Azure/ GCP/ Walmart Cloud Native Platform (WCNP) preferred.Experience working on a enterprise technology platform with cloud service architecture and distributed systems.Experience in all areas of engineering including DevOps, Chaos Engineering, SRE, and on-call rotations to assure service availability and operational excellence.Experience working with cross-functional project development and in collaborating with other scrum teams, QA, Release Management, Program Management, and TechOps.
