Staff Accountant, Development
Responsibilities The Staff Accountant will be responsible for certain aspects of corporate accounting relating to various entities within the NY Development and Construction financial reporting group. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the development accounting teams, financial planning & analysis, as well as other departments within the company, and will need to establish and maintain good working relationships with them. Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant include, but are not limited to, preparing journal entries, bank reconciliations, capital call requisitions, quarterly and annual financial reports and work papers on a GAAP basis. The Staff Accountant will also be involved in a variety of special projects and financial analysis and continuously working to improve reporting and information sharing. The most important of these functions are as follows: Review and analyze the general ledger, assist with financial statements and prepare recurring monthly and quarterly journal entries Create and send invoices for corporate entities Monitor cash activity and ownership of weekly cash reconciliations Prepare monthly capital call requisitions Review and code vendor invoices, coordinate approval of the invoices, ensure timely funding of the loan requisition, and oversee payment to vendors Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly and year end work papers Assist in the management of auditor engagements for completion of annual audit reports Provide timely and accurate information to the owners, lenders and outside partners Special projects as assigned by management Compensation $60,000 - $80,000 / year Annual performance based bonus Qualifications BS in Accounting, CPA a plus Public accounting experience a plus 2- 3 years relevant accounting experience. Real estate development or construction industry a plus Ability to handle multiple tasks, and to work independently in an organized manner strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills Excellent Excel skills Knowledge of JD Edwards accounting software a plus Related values diversity in backgrounds and experiences.
