Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Lynnwood, Washington. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the financial operations by preparing accurate financial statements, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a passion for maintaining precise financial records. Responsibilities: • Prepare and post journal entries as part of the month-end closing process. • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and bank statements to ensure accuracy. • Generate and analyze financial statements, identifying trends and variances. • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, providing recommendations for improvements. • Ensure compliance with state and local tax regulations, including filing requirements. • Utilize Excel to perform data analysis and create financial reports using formulas and functions. • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot accounting issues and streamline processes. • Assist with ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned by management. Requirements • At least 1 year of experience in accounting, including financial statement preparation and general ledger work. • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. • Proficiency in reconciling accounts and identifying discrepancies. • Familiarity with state and local tax regulations. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data analysis. • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet critical deadlines. • Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot trends and irregularities. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with others.
