Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant with a strong background in inventory accounting to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, reconciling inventory transactions, and supporting general accounting operations to ensure financial integrity and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Perform day-to-day accounting duties with a focus on inventory transactions, including inventory reconciliations, adjustments, and variance analysis.
+ Maintain and reconcile inventory sub-ledger to the general ledger.
+ Monitor and analyze inventory movements, cost of goods sold (COGS), and margins to ensure accurate financial reporting.
+ Partner with operations, supply chain, and warehouse teams to understand inventory processes and resolve discrepancies.
+ Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
+ Support physical inventory counts and cycle counts; ensure proper documentation and accuracy.
+ Analyze inventory trends and provide actionable insights to improve efficiency and reduce shrinkage or obsolescence.
+ Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support external and internal audit processes.
+ Maintain and improve internal controls related to inventory and costing.
+ Support ad hoc financial projects and reporting as required.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
+ 2–4 years of accounting experience, with at least 1–2 years specifically in inventory accounting or cost accounting.
+ Experience in manufacturing, retail, distribution, or a similar inventory-intensive environment preferred.
Technical Skills:
+ Strong knowledge of GAAP and inventory accounting principles.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.).
+ Experience with inventory modules and cost tracking tools is a plus.
Soft Skills:
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
+ High attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
