Staff Accountant

Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team and help support their vital work in the community. Responsibilities: + Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accurate monthly and year-end closes. + Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and donor reports, adhering to nonprofit accounting standards and guidelines (e.g., GAAP, FASB). + Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. + Track and monitor fund allocations and grant expenditures to ensure compliance with donor restrictions and reporting requirements. + Process payroll, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. + Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing requested documentation. + Collaborate with program leaders to provide financial insights, helping them manage budgets and align resources with organizational goals. + Stay updated on nonprofit-specific accounting standards and best practices to ensure compliance with regulations and policies. Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. + 2+ years of relevant accounting experience; nonprofit experience preferred. + Proficiency with accounting software; experience with systems like QuickBooks or Sage Intacct a plus. + Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles. + Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. + High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. + Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effectively collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
