Description We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Oakland, California. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting financial operations and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, particularly in inventory or manufacturing environments, and be well-versed in QuickBooks Online and Excel. Responsibilities: • Manage the month-end close process, ensuring all financial records are accurate and up to date. • Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements to maintain financial accuracy. • Record and reconcile Shopify fees and deposits, ensuring proper allocation. • Prepare and review profit and loss statements, focusing on key reconciliations. • Assist with payroll reconciliations and collaborate with the team to improve processes. • Utilize QuickBooks Online to maintain accurate and organized financial data. • Work closely with other team members to address outstanding financial tasks, including catching up on prior quarters. • Ensure compliance with corporate tax, sales tax, and other regulatory requirements. • Provide support in preparing journal entries and maintaining the general ledger. • Occasionally work on-site to gain familiarity with the business operations and processes. Requirements • Proven experience as a Staff or Senior Accountant, preferably in inventory or manufacturing industries. • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and strong Excel skills. • Knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and related compliance requirements. • Demonstrated ability to reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements. • Experience recording Shopify fees and deposits is highly desirable. • Strong understanding of journal entries and profit and loss statement preparation. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
