Compensation: $41,600 - $45,760/year
Location: Spokane, WA
Summary: Assists Senior Staff Accountant in providing for the day-to-day financial and record-keeping operations for Habitat-Spokane.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Account ReconciliationsOversees various account reconciliations daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly. Research transaction history to resolve any unreconciled items.
Accounts Receivable (A/R)Process statements for A/R to send to homeowners that make direct payments to Habitat-Spokane on Homeowner Association (HOA) expenses, Closing Cost Savings, and Utility Bills for Boone & Madelia. Manages and reconciles all HOA accounts and collaborates with Homeowner Services Department to set up all new Closing Cost Savings transactions. Collects accounts by sending statement reminders and communicating with clients via phone, email, fax, or mail. Process reports from mortgage companies and record mortgage payments in QuickBooks or other software – completed as a month closing entry when entering information that Affiliate Mortgage Services drops in Dropbox.Submits and maintains all Umpqua mortgage loans. Reconciles the accounts receivable ledger to subsidiary accounts to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.Resolves outstanding AR by examining client loan agreements, payment history and contacting clients. Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating transactions. Maintains client account for current contact information.
Payroll ProcessingProcesses bi-monthly payroll through 3rd party vendor.Checks account balances after processing payroll and corrects errors. Create all payroll reports as needed to reconcile benefits payable. Create reports and invoices ASO for their payroll.
General Accounting DutiesMakes journal and ledger entries in QuickBooks and Excel as directed.Assists Senior Staff Accountant in A/P & A/R best practices and reconciling GL accounts. Produces monthly, quarterly, annual, and special reports as directed.Enters budget data into Accounting Software.Oversees inventory by entering all in-kind and purchased materials and reconciling inventory on at least a quarterly basis with Homebuilding Department. Uploads InfoTouch Sales into Accounting Software. Process B&O tax for the Habitat-Spokane Store.Reconcile all outstanding loans and Lines of Credit (LOC). Answers Basecamp questions each morning and every evening about daily tasks. Participates in weekly accounting staff meetings. Ensures confidentiality and policy following in all aspects of Habitat accounting and homeowner issues.Preserves financial historical records by filing accounting documents.

Communicates with vendors and makes updates.Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls. Attends all Habitat-Spokane events such as meetings, trainings, social events, and home dedications. Promotes the mission of Habitat for Humanity-Spokane.

Education and/or ExperienceBachelor’s degree in accounting from a four-year college or university; and two years of work-related experience.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have an intermediate knowledge of QuickBooks, Raisers Edge, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
