Staff Accountant

Opportunity Summary

The Staff Accountant position is responsible for accurate accounting in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as contract compliance for assigned Client Projects.

Here's a look at some of the work you'll be doing in this role:

Responsible for accounting and financial recordkeeping for assigned Client Projects, including:

Assist Project Controller in compiling and analyzing financial information including budget variances Meeting financial reporting deadlines Assist Project Controller in preparing monthly cash and GAAP forecasts Preparing balance sheet reconciliations Assist in the preparation of annual budgets Assist in the preparation of owner’s board packages for their presentation Oversee accounts payable transactions including preparing accounts payable checks for processing Maintaining standardized workpapers for all balance sheet accounts and some income statement accounts, including but not limited to fixed asset records and depreciation Preparing journal entries

Responsible for assigned Project Contract compliance:

Read and understand related contracts Assist in ensuring compliance and correlation to monthly financials Upload compliance deadlines and responsibilities into DocMinder

Responsible to interact professionally with:

Outside CPA’s in preparing the year-end Financial Statements, audits, tax preparation and special accounting issues Banking institutions and other third-party consultants (lawyers, etc.) Company’s officers,  Asset Managers, other managers and administrative staff

Working Relationships  

The Staff Accountant reports to the Project Accounting Manager and will assist the Project Controller.

Compensation

The initial compensation will range from $65,000 - $80,000 based on experience and qualifications.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and at least 1 to 3 years’ relevant accounting experience Strong communication skills Time management, organizational abilities, and multi-tasking are essential to meet deadlines as this position will be expected to handle accounting for 3-5 companies simultaneously Computer experience, including knowledge of accounting software (experience with Great Plains and/or Microsoft Dynamics a plus), Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Power Point Strong decision making skills and detailed oriented Strong organization, recordkeeping and time management skills Experience in a professional business environment

Working Conditions

This role requires sitting/standing at a desk, using a computer workstation, the ability to handle long periods of screen time and typing. Must be available for business hours Monday through Friday. 

Fitness for Duty

All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the building.
