Job Title: Staff Accountant
Job Description
Supports the Controller in the preparation of monthly financial statements. Maintains knowledge of and supports processes and procedures to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Maintains the general ledger including setting up new general ledger accounts, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and assisting in the month-end close. Prepares month-end closing entries for the recording of all cost accounting entries and general ledger adjusting entries. Reconciles payroll, intercompany, prepaids, accruals, and other financial accounts, as necessary. Reconciles bank accounts, verifies bank activity as necessary, and addresses inquiries from banks. Verifies accuracy of accounts payable expenses recorded in the general ledger and ensures purchases are charged to the appropriate accounts. Works closely with procurement to ensure purchase orders are recording expenses to the proper general ledger accounts. Supports the monthly variances to budget and forecast. Tracks, analyzes, and reports departmental costs, both actual and standard. Works closely with department managers to understand actual and forecasted departmental costs. Assists Controller and outside auditors with the annual audit. Gathers necessary account information and documentation to perform the annual audit.
Responsibilities

+ Maintain the general ledger, including setting up new accounts and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
+ Assist in the month-end close and prepare month-end closing entries for cost accounting and general ledger adjustments.
+ Reconcile payroll, intercompany, prepaids, accruals, and other financial accounts as necessary.
+ Reconcile bank accounts, verify bank activity, and address inquiries from banks.

Essential Skills
+ Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, V-Lookup.
+ Knowledge of general accounting and cost accounting to ensure compliance with GAAP.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ At least 3+ years of Finance/Accounting experience.
+ Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
+ One (1) year of relevant experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is preferred.
Work Environment
The position is based onsite at the corporate headquarters.
