Staff Accountant
Job Title: Staff Accountant Job Description We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team (6 month contract-to-hire). This role involves handling daily cash journals and reconciliations, preparing financial reports, maintaining fixed asset ledgers, and supporting month-end processing for our Canada and US legal entities. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting and a keen eye for accuracy and compliance. Responsibilities + Handle daily cash journals and cash reconciliations. + Prepare weekly cash balance reports and support weekly cash forecasts by analyzing and summarizing cash trends. + Monitor cash balances to ensure compliance with organizational deposit limits. + Maintain accurate fixed asset ledgers for Canada and US legal entities, including processing additions, disposals, and movements within the fixed asset system in accordance with J-Sox controls. + Calculate and book all monthly depreciation and amortization. + Manage annual fixed assets audit and prepare quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reporting. + Perform month-end processing for Canada and US legal entities, including processing journal entries, analyzing account balances, preparing variance analyses, and preparing financial statements and reports. + Manage the account reconciliation process, ensuring all reconciliations are performed timely and in accordance with J-Sox controls. + Prepare internal financial statements and schedules, including expense analysis cross-charged to other regions. + Manage inter-company receivable and payable accounts, including processing charge-backs, procuring confirmation statements, and reconciling balances to the general ledger. + Serve as backup to other key accounting personnel, including cross-training and follow-up training as necessary. + Assist on various projects as assigned by the supervisor or Director of Accounting. + Assist in annual financial and internal control audits and continuously review tasks and processes to ensure compliance with internal controls and policies. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Accounting + 3-5 years of generalized accounting experience, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and balance sheets + Experience in a manufacturing environment + Practical knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards + Proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills + Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively present data to peers and management Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with SAP + Ability to grow within the company and areas of mentorship + Strong attention to detail and accuracy Work Environment This role offers a hybrid work environment based out of Watertown, with one day in the office per week and potentially 2-3 days during month-end.
