Staff Accountant
Virgin Galactic is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the team. The primary role for the Staff Accountant will be to provide Accounting support for both the finance team and a broad range of teammate “customers” who rely on timely and accurate accounting support and financial information. The individual will perform a flexible range of activities. This role will be responsible for performing a portion of the monthly accounting close process and select financial reporting. We are seeking an individual who is pro-active, self-directed and possesses an atypical high quality bar for themselves. Prepare journal entries complete with necessary supporting documentation and schedulesPrepare account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts on a monthly basisReview and record daily cash transactions to the appropriate general ledger accountsAssist in performing technical accounting research to determine appropriate treatment for a variety of transactions under US GAAP & IFRSPrepare supporting schedules for use in financial statements and footnote disclosures.Assist in providing critical financial information to other teammates within and outside of FinanceAssist in coordinating the annual financial statement audit and working with our external auditors on various accounting issues as neededAssist in the continued implementation and development of our Oracle ERPPerform data extractions and prepare reports to support financial statementsAssist in general process improvements and process documentation for all facets of the accounting cycle as well as the continued development and documentation of our accounting policies and proceduresCultivate internal relations at all levels by providing support and a high level of customer servicePerform various projects such as research, special projects & analysis as neededAd hoc projects as directed

 

Requires Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or CPA eligible is a plusMinimum 1 year public accounting preferred, or mix of public and private experienceStrong financial analysis skillsPossess strong knowledge of accounting rules or the ability to perform research to properly interpret and determine the appropriate accounting treatment for common transactionsDemonstrated experience with accounting systems and practices. Oracle experience a plusAbility to present and explain financial data and analysis to both finance and non-finance audiencesStrong time management skills essential; Flexible with the ability to multitaskProficiency in all MS Office applications, especially ExcelMust be inquisitive and able to solve problems creativelyExemplary written and oral communication skills requiredCreative and proactive, with a keen eye for detail and shows initiative to solve problems and deliver solutionsAbility to work under pressure and with ‘on the spot’ priority situations in a quick and effective mannerAble to learn quickly and grasp the project and operational detailsWillingness and ability to travel if required (minimal)

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $67,500.00–$97,950.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
