Staff Accountant
Are you a meticulous and detail-oriented accounting professional looking to make a significant impact within a dynamic organization? We are seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our client's team. In this pivotal role, you will manage daily financial transactions and tasks, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our ERP and other company systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Your expertise will be crucial in upholding our corporate ethics, goals, and objectives. This position requires a high level of accounting proficiency, business acumen, and sound judgment to plan and achieve our financial goals. You will perform your responsibilities with precision, promptness, and minimal supervision. Key Duties & Responsibilities: + Financial Accuracy & Integrity: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all accounting and transactional records to support proper financial reporting. + Journal Entries: Process and maintain both ad hoc and recurring journal entries promptly and accurately. + Policy Review & Suggestions: Review and suggest modifications to accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance. + Month-End Closing: Assist with month-end closing procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. + Special Projects: Prepare correspondence, documents, and complete special projects as needed. + Financial Statements: Compile and prepare financial statements in line with GAAP, providing a clear and accurate financial picture. + Audit & Compliance: Audit, analyze, and approve accounting transactions for accuracy and GAAP compliance. + Database Maintenance: Maintain financial databases with up-to-date servicing and/or collateral information. + General Ledger Analysis: Analyze general ledger accounts for accuracy and ensure proper accruals. + Reconciliations & Audits: Prepare bank account, general ledger, and petty cash reconciliations; conduct periodic audits of petty cash funds. + Data Analysis: Research, collect, and analyze financial data for required reporting submissions, providing valuable insights. Background Experience: + 2-5+ years of GL accounting experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field. + Strong proficiency in Excel, including experience creating and utilizing pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. + Experience utilizing large ERP systems to manage financial data. + Previous experience in government contracting, preferably with the Department of Defense (DoD). + Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint is highly desirable. + Experience with ERP implementation projects is a plus.
