Staff Accountant
Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the College Park area of Maryland. As a Staff Accountant, you will be working in a dynamic environment where your responsibilities will include processing invoices, maintaining fixed assets records, and performing reconciliation duties as related to month end close. This role is pivotal in ensuring financial accuracy and compliance within our organization. Responsibilities • Accurately process invoices using appropriate funding sources. • Establish projects in Workday and set up budgets. • Conduct regular fixed asset reconciliation. • Collaborate with campus inventory coordinators for comprehensive and timely recordkeeping of fixed assets. • Set up leases in the leasing system in adherence with GASB87/96 to track Lease Liability/ROU assets. • Prepare and assist with interim and year-end schedules and funding source reconciliation. • Utilize advanced Office/Excel skills for financial tasks and analysis. • Maintain an accurate record of customer credits and process customer credit applications. • Monitor customer accounts and take necessary actions based on account status. • Ensure adherence to capitalization of Assets vs Expenses (CAPEX) policy. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) • Ability to perform Bank Reconciliations • Expertise in maintaining and managing General Ledger • Skilled in creating Journal Entries • Capable of handling Month End Close processes • Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP, and Workday software • Experience with Workday ERP, Workday HRIS, and Workday Payroll systems • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for accounting tasks • Ability to perform Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Account Reconciliation • Experience with Cash Reconciliations and Credit Card Reconciliation • Capable of performing Daily Reconciliation and Financial Reconciliation tasks • Knowledge of Fixed Asset Accounting, Fixed Asset Inventory, Fixed Asset Ledger, and Fixed Asset Depreciation • Experience in handling Annual Fund, Closed-End Funds, and Fund Accounting • Familiarity with Fund Administration, Fund Allocation, and Fund Management • Ability to handle Fund Operations effectively.
