Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team in the retail industry, located in Ashland, Virginia, United States. As a Staff Accountant, you will be tasked with maintaining and updating our accounting records, examining tax policies, and assisting with month-end and year-end closures. This position offers an exciting opportunity for those with a keen eye for detail and a background in accounting. Responsibilities: • Maintain and update accounting records for accuracy • Examine and implement tax policies, handle tax payments, and returns • Conduct comprehensive analyses of budgets and generate detailed expense reports • Organize and participate in confidential meetings with clients to discuss accounting matters • Categorize and post transactions in the general ledger, such as by assets, liabilities, and expenses • Conduct bank reconciliations regularly to ensure accurate financial records • Analyze and discuss transactions with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure transparency • Spearhead month-end and year-end closures to keep our accounting records up-to-date • Prepare necessary documents for audits to ensure compliance and accuracy • Respond to clients' financial inquiries via email or phone, providing expert advice when necessary • Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with all relevant rules and regulations. Requirements • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar is required. • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is necessary. • Experience with Bank Reconciliations is expected. • Must have a good understanding and hands-on experience with General Ledger. • Experience in preparing Journal Entries is essential. • Demonstrated expertise in managing Month End Close procedures. • Familiarity with NetSuite software is beneficial. • Proficiency in Oracle software is beneficial. • Experience with QuickBooks software is desirable. • Familiarity with SAP software is a plus.
