Staff Accountant

Title: Staff Accountant

Classification: Non-Exempt

Division: Corporate

Reports to: Accounting Manager

Travel: 0-5%

Work Environment: Hybrid (San Diego, CA)

Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000 annually

About the role:
DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the team in our San Diego office. This is a full-time position with a hybrid working environment. The Staff Accountant will support the Insurance Accounting group and will assist in variety of tasks, including processing claims payments, managing claims cash calls, helping with month-end closing, and assisting with preparing reports to our carrier partners.

Essential Functions:

Processing claims checks on a weekly basis

Handling cash calls to our carrier partners for claims payments

Calculating claims fee income and preparing related invoices

Entering daily cash payments into the agency management system, preparing bank deposits and initiating bank transfers 

Preparing various month-end journal entries

Helping with the preparation of the reporting sent to our carrier partners

Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations, investigate any discrepancies, and resolve issues 

Answering any questions from outside producers or internal DUAL groups (claims, underwriting, etc.) as necessary

Assisting in any carrier audit preparation.

Other duties as required.

Job Requirements (education, experience, skills):

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related area or an equivalent experience.

Ability and willingness to learn new software / systems

Detail-oriented

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (experience with lookups and pivot tables a must)

Previous experience with insurance administration systems (particularly IMS) desirable

Commitment to ethical behavior with a willingness to adhere to all company policies
