Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations. This includes entering financial transactions, maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and reconciling accounts.

This position will play a key role in the Company’s Accounting Department by performing a variety of accounting tasks to ensure the accurate and timely recording of business transactions.

Job Duties & Requirements:

General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely entries for various financial transactions. Post journal entries and ensure proper documentation and backup for all transactions. Account Reconciliation: Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accounts payable, long-term liabilities, and other general ledger accounts on a monthly basis. Investigate discrepancies, make necessary adjustments, and ensure the accuracy of financial records. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Assist in the preparation and execution of the monthly and year-end close processes. Prepare and review financial statements and other financial reports used within the organization. Provide support for budgeting and forecasting processes by analyzing trends and financial data. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Support accounts payable functions, including processing invoices, ensuring timely payment, and maintaining vendor records. Assist in accounts receivable duties, including invoicing customers, monitoring payments, recording cash collections, and managing overdue accounts. Audit and Tax Assistance: Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary financial data, reports, and documentation. Support the preparation and filing of various tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations. Internal Controls and Compliance: Adhere to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations. Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Other Duties: Perform other accounting-related tasks as required by the finance department or management.

Competencies and Expectations:

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience with accounting software. Knowledge of basic tax rules and principles. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience and/or Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 1-3 years of experience in an accounting or finance role. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger duties is preferred.
