Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis and infusion therapy. Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences), our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens) and Gurwin Certified and Licensed Home Care Services Agencies. We currently have a unique career opportunity for a full-time Staff Accountant in our Finance Department. Salary range is $55,000-$65,000 per year based on experience. You will be scheduled to work Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Associates Degree in Accounting, Computer Literate, Minimum 2 years of accounting experience REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE: + Prepare bank reconciliations on a monthly basis. + Prepare and post monthly recurring journal entries. + Prepare account analysis. + Prepare account analysis for year-end audit. + Assist in the preparation of the Medicare / Medicaid Cost Reports. + Reconcile Due to / Due From Related Party accounts on a monthly basis ensuring balances agree on all sets of books. + Maintain schedule of prepaid expenses and prepare monthly journal entry to expense correct portion. + Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements. + Prepare and submit periodic reports as required by the US Census Bureau. + Prepare NYS Voucher requesting reimbursement for C.N.A. training recertification costs on a semi-annual basis. + Maintain journal entry books in a neat and organized manner. + Assist Residents in the absence of the Patient Trust Clerk on an as needed basis. + Assist with other office duties as needed.
