Staff Accountant
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity in the accounting industry based in San Francisco, California, for a Revenue Manager. This role will primarily focus on ensuring the accurate, consistent, and timely accounting and compliance of our organization's grants. + Oversee the Billing Department to ensure accurate claim submission and timely collections, adhering to third-party contracts (Medicare, Medi-Cal, managed care, commercial insurance, and patient pay). + Review, rework, and resubmit unprocessed claims and denials for revenue maximization. + Maintain billing/financial data, including medical billing codes, rate schedules, and payer information. + Analyze reimbursement from all sources and identify exceptions. + Maximize cash collections by monitoring open accounts receivable balances. + Develop and enforce billing policies/procedures; ensure staff adherence. + Prepare reports on billing, AR activity, performance, bad debt, and AR days for CFO review. + Provide staff training on eligibility, insurance, coding updates, and errors. + Collaborate with Patient Services Director and CFO for revenue cycle improvements. + Mentor, coach, and conduct performance reviews for direct reports. + Oversee billing and collection operations, including staff training, development, and performance monitoring. + Implement and monitor quality control standards for billing, coding, and compliance (e.g., Medicare, Medi-Cal). + Coordinate month-end AR/billing close with the accounting manager. + Address and resolve issues to improve efficiency, compliance, and revenue. + Lead the implementation of billing/coding changes (e.g., ICD-10, CPC updates). + Participate actively in organizational meetings. Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration/Management, or related field. + 5+ years managing Revenue Cycle/Billing in a healthcare setting (community health center preferred). + Knowledge of FQHC/Community Health Center regulations, state/federal billing guidelines, and organizational workflows. Strong understanding of accounting principles, accounts receivable, write-offs, and collections. + Leadership skills for supervising, training, and coaching. Excellent communication (written and verbal). Ability to manage multiple projects and ensure completion. + Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Internet Explorer, and Practice Management Systems. Knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-10 coding protocols. CPC certification preferred. + Capable of setting priorities, establishing performance standards, and creating plans to achieve goals. + Office equipment proficiency. + Strong knowledge of federal, state, and HIPAA privacy regulations.
