The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the Company’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities within the Accounting Department.
What you will be doing:
Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization. Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements and profit and loss statements in collaboration with the Controller and other personnel within the accounting department. Maintains the general ledger; including, but not limited to review of transactions for accuracy and investigates abnormalities. Updates and maintains fixed assets sub-ledger, Equipment/Fleet and other costed elements Sales/Use tax maintenance and filings. Ad-hoc report preparation, job cost and cost accounting analysis. Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts and assists in closing monthly books. Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits and addresses inquiries from banking institutions. Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts. May provide outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual review. May provides assistance in filing tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies. Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.In order to be successful in this role, here is what we will need from you:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records. Knowledge of GAAP with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform primary work in an indoor, office locale in concert with other team members in similar proximity. Work closely with other team members to coordinate responsibilities, as well as communicate information and progress to others while observing details at close range. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer with physical activity that may also include bending, climbing, keyboarding, kneeling, lifting up to 10 pounds, reaching, sitting, standing, using the telephone and walking. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. Ability to work a standard work week of Monday through Friday with business hours generally between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.About You
You are an experienced accounting professional with a minimum of an Associate's degree in Accounting and at least two to three years of related experience for companies that are mid-sized or greater ($200M or more.) Five plus years of related experience, professional certifications and/or a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with experience in the construction industry are also highly preferred. You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications and related accounting software. You are highly collaborative and thrive in a team-oriented environment with a high degree of integrity at all times.
