Staff Accountant
Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to become a part of our client's team, based in West Des Moines, IA. The role involves handling a variety of accounting duties, including processing accounts payable and receivable, conducting account reconciliation, and assisting in preparing financial statements. The Staff Accountant will also play a crucial part in understanding and maintaining the flow of cash and income between various affiliated and subsidiary entities. Why would you love it? They value dedication, commitment, and integration with the team Responsibilities: • Accurately processing transactions related to accounts payable and receivable using specialized accounting software. • Conducting reconciliations for general ledger accounts, bank statements, credit card accounts, and other financial records to ensure completeness and accuracy. • Utilizing data analysis skills to assess financial trends, identify discrepancies, and propose process improvements. • Collaborating with the accounting team and department leaders to help prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities. • Ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting policies and procedures and suggesting improvements for streamlining operations. • Providing world-class customer service when interacting with clients, contacts, and staff. • Reading, understanding, and complying with the company Policy and Procedures Manual, following internal processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. • Managing vendor relationships, ensuring proper billing, payment scheduling, and timely issue resolution. • Assisting in the presentation of financial results to management. • Implementing and integrating accounting software programs such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP, Peachtree Accounting Software, and Salesforce. • Conducting system automation and Salesforce implementations and integrations. Requirements Qualifications: + 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience, with a solid understanding of AP/AR and General Ledger processes. + Knowledge of accounting principles, including debits and credits, and how financial entries impact overall business performance. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to identify discrepancies and patterns. + Proficient in modern accounting software systems and ability to learn new systems and adapt to evolving technology requirements. + Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including advanced functionality. + Experience in mid-sized or blue-collar industries (farming, agri-business, construction, or related fields) is a plus. + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an Accounting-related field is a plus but not required. Equivalent education with substantial experience will also be considered.
