Description Staff Accountant - Job Description Key Responsibilities: + Verify, receipt, and process daily cash and checks from operational divisions to the Finance Division. + Prepare daily bank deposits and monitor account activity. + Allocate deposit amounts to appropriate fund codes, including fines, fees, and trust accounts. + Reconcile daily activity logs and supporting documents for cash and bond payments. + Manage Merchant Services and NSF processes, including supply orders, transaction research, and chargebacks. + Reconcile trust account balances monthly and comply with statutory guidelines. + Void, record, and post stale-dated checks; prepare quarterly reconciliations for county and state agencies. + Reconcile vendor charges, balance financial accounts, and prepare audit reports. + Prepare and submit financial reports to the Assistant Chief Financial Officer for approval. + Update database records, process payments, and file all supporting documents in compliance with audit guidelines. + Resolve accounting issues independently and post journal entries based on records. + Maintain accurate financial ledgers and comply with state statutes and fiscal year procedures. + Perform other duties as assigned by management.
