Staff Accountant
Description Position Overview: The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing senior -level accounting functions, including cash, accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), retail accounting, audit, and fuel accounting functions. This role provides direct support to the Controller and involves preparing accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and leading junior accounting staff. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting and Analysis: • Prepare accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. • Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost reduction and revenue enhancement. • Assist with the development and establishment of new accounting policies and procedures related to process and system changes. Account Reconciliation: • Reconcile account balances and bank statements to ensure accuracy. • Maintain and balance general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies. Audit Coordination and Compliance: • Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits. • Prepare documentation for external auditors and coordinate semi-annual audits. • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. • Assist with compliance reviews. Accounts Payable and Receivable: • Perform and/or lead cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fuel accounting functions. • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information. • Assist with reconciling, auditing, and researching daily store paperwork and site-level discrepancies. Month-End and Year-End Close: • Perform month-end and year-end close processes. • Prepare assigned schedules for interim and annual audits.
