Staff Accountant II
 

The Tides Inn Staff Accountant II will perform accounting functions and month-end closing tasks for the Tides Inn. As a key member of the accounting team, the Staff Accountant II serves as a trusted resource to property management team. They will report to the Accounting Manager and then to the Controller and will execute varied accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Daily Revenue Report, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, cost allocations, posting of journal entries, as well as other tasks assigned by the Accounting Manager and/or Controller.

 

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

Ensure compliance with internal policies as well as state and federal laws, as applicable to finance and accounting practices.Serve as a support resource to Accounting Manager, Controller, and Management.Maintain accurate A/P records and process timely payments.Maintain positive communications with vendors.Receive, review, and ask appropriate questions for monthly vendor statements.Handling of daily, weekly, and monthly petty cash requirements.Maintain accurate records and audits of house change banks, including the Accounting safe.Be well-versed in the preparation of Daily Revenue Reports and daily credit card batch processing.Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts as directed.Safeguard the assets of the company by ensuring that appropriate internal controls and documentation exist and are adhered to.Maintain adequate documentation to support all accounting-related transactions.Prepare annual 1099 statements in conjunction with external audit firm.Prepare ad-hoc reports and perform financial analysis as requested by the Accounting Manager, Controller, and Management.Offer up suggestions, make recommendations, and implement necessary changes to meet and exceed departmental objectives and to enhance service and efficiency.Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES:

 

Diploma from an accredited high school or equivalency program.A minimum of 1-3 years of previous accounting experience is preferred.Previous hospitality industry experience is highly desired.Experience in working with M3 accounting system is a plus.High proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.Knowledge of GAAP and experience in the preparation of general ledger reports and financial statements.Strong track record for management of confidential information with significant degree of discretion and independent judgment.Capability for effective communication with all levels of staff and management, both verbally and in written formats.Exceptional service orientation, with keen ability to focus and deliver on internal and external client needs.Reliable and responsible character, with exceptional follow up and attention to detail.Proactive approach, with exceptional initiative and problem-solving abilities to ensure the highest levels of productivity and guest satisfaction.Ability to multi-task and effectively manage numerous priorities within a fast-paced environment.Schedule flexibility and ability to work extended and/or irregular hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays, if necessary.
