**Summary**
**Staff Accountant II**
The Staff Accountant II is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information and prepare financial statements in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for assigned Divisions.

**Responsibilities**
The Company is one of North America’s leading sales and marketing agencies specializing in outsourced sales, merchandising, category management, and marketing services to manufacturers, suppliers, and producers of food products and consumer packaged goods. The Company services a variety of trade channels including grocery, mass merchandise, specialty, convenience, drug, dollar, club, hardware, consumer electronics, and home centers. We bridge the gap between manufacturers and retailers, providing consumers access to the best products available in the marketplace today.
**Responsibilities**
+ General Ledger:Ensure accurate financial results by preparing the financial data for the closing of the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting cycles. Use knowledge of GAAP as well as understanding of business operations to determine the appropriateness of transactions. Proactively investigate and resolve discrepancies.
+ Balance Sheet:Perform detailed review and analysis of balance sheet accounts and prepare reconciliations for month, quarter, and year-end. Proactively identify and resolve issues and/or bring to the manager’s attention.
+ Financial Analysis:Summarize current financial status by aggregating financial information and preparing reports when requested. May include various expense tracking (e.g., expense reports). Review income statement and balance sheet to identify potential issues.
+ Internal Controls:Perform detailed review and analysis of information obtained from internal customers and divisional management and ensure compliance with internal control policies. Seek guidance from the manager as needed.
+ Build Relationships:Develop and maintain relationships with Operations or other cross-functional groups. Work closely with other accounting teams to resolve intercompany issues.
**Supervisory Responsibilities**
Direct Reports
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities for direct reports.
Indirect Reports
Does not have direct reports but may delegate work to others and provide guidance, direction, and mentoring to indirect reports.
**Minimum Qualifications**
Education Level:Bachelor’s degree.
Field of Study/Area of Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred); Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related area may also be considered. CPA or CPA candidate a plus.
Experience Requirements:2–4 years of accounting experience in a medium to large-sized company. Private industry (Marketing or CPG a plus) or public accounting acceptable.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
+ Good time-management skills with demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and meet assigned deadlines.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills.
+ Effective interpersonal and organizational skills as well as attention to detail.
+ Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting theory.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
**Environmental & Physical Requirements**
Office / Sedentary Requirements:Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically, requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may require the ability to lift up to 10lbs.
