Staff Assistant, Workers Compensation

Feel free to enrich both your personal and work life and hop on board! **Why you'll love this job** + This role is a crucial part of the Workers' Compensation team in the People department. + You’ll be providing essential administrative support that ensures the smooth handling and resolution of workers' compensation claims, contributing directly to the wellbeing of our employees and the efficiency of our operations. **What you'll do** + Maintain relationships with internal programs (e.g., Safety, HUB/Stations, attorneys, Payroll, vendors) and external insurance carriers + Manage time and attendance, process expense reports, invoices, and order supplies + Monitor shared inboxes, process workers' compensation subpoenas, and respond to defense attorney discovery requests + Communicate with legal, payroll, and retirement contacts for employment verification ahead of full and final claim settlements + Submit consideration payment requests and send settlement/separation correspondence to relevant contacts + Review incoming medical bills and forward to Third Party Administrator (TPA); assist TPA with wage statement inquiries using HEC, Sharp, Workbrain, and EC systems + Schedule meetings, coordinate food orders, assist with department/vendor event planning, and support team-building events + Staff Injury Hotline to assist injured team members, complete CA DWC1 forms, and handle injury reporting materials (e.g., brochures, print requests) + Edit Injury Reporting System notification email distribution lists and collaborate with the CERS program administrator on technical issues + Assist with flight reservations via QIK/Sabre, travel history checks for employees with injury claims, and deposit departmental checks into credit union accounts for proper accounting allocation **All you'll need for success** **Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience** + High school diploma or equivalent + Strong background in administrative roles, especially within legal, workers' compensation, or insurance sectors + Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail + Familiarity with legal documents and processes, especially in handling subpoenas and settlement agreements **Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience** + Experience in workers' compensation or a related field is preferred + Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information + Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively + Experience with Workbrain timekeeping systems **Skills, Licenses & Certifications** + Experience with using Excel and basic functions + Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate at all organizational levels + Proficiency in the QIK/Sabre environment + Experience working with Workbrain timekeeping systems + Physical ability to perform the job's essential functions safely, with or without reasonable accommodations **What you'll get** Feel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer: + Travel Perks: Ready to explore the world?
