Incumbents in the Staff Assistant I position perform a variety of administrative support and/or secretarial duties for a specified department or program.
Responsibilities Purchasing and keeping track of the supplies in the front office and in stock rooms. Keep general supplies in stock rooms organized. Sign-for and ensure delivery-of FedEx items.Finding missing receipts for pcard reconciler.Managing keys for subdepartment employees – Request prox/key access for employees that have completed their new hire training. Manage some parts of the new hire training for Lab Technicians. Process internal forms/steps for raises terminations and new hires.Keep an updated database related to equipment.Assist with notifying the team you work with about issues with the building they occupy.Sort, screen, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.Be willing to take some USU financial training for the purpose of having access to some USU software for eventual minimal use.Work on additional odd jobs, as needed and workload allows. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
One year of experience in an office setting or an associate degree/vocational training is required.Preferred Qualifications:
Skilled with computers and related software including and especially Excel.Skilled with basic office equipment, including printers, copiers, and telephone systems.Good organizational skills, and some office experience required.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential business data and personal information.Ability to work without supervision.Knowledge of University policies and procedures.Excellent customer service skills.
