Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS) provides mental health and wellness services to over 1,400 students each year, and offers professional training to nine doctoral and nine undergraduate students. In collaboration with the Office Manager, this position of Staff Assistant II will play an essential role in daily operations of the center by assisting students seeking mental health services and providing administrative support to professional therapist and trainees. This position will be a valued member of a team that values belonging, work-life balance, and collegiality. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, detail-orientated, proactive, and possesses excellent interpersonal skills. This position is NOT eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities Performs reception and customer service duties, including answering phones, directing calls to appropriate parties, data entry, filing, and other general duties as assigned.Reviews incoming client paperwork and schedule initial appointments based on the triage criteria.Communicates with students, faculty, staff, parents, and other visitors to schedule appointments and answer questions about CAPS services, while maintaining confidentiality and providing empathic support. Provides administrative support, including scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings/conferences, and maintaining/ordering office supplies.Provides support for departmental, division-wide, and university-wide programs and projects.Often works independently to provide high-level administrative support to a large or complex program.Assist with tasks needed for the up-keeping of physical office environment. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of related work experience; OR an Associate's degree; OR completion of relevant technical training

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of USU resources.Experience working in a clinical office.Ability to speak a language other than English.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Cultural sensitivity toward all our students.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Ability for critical thinking, initiative taking, and attention to detail.Skilled in the use of computers.Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.Skilled at records maintenance.Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.Knowledge of University policies and procedures. Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.

Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS) is part of USU's Division of Student Affairs. We serve students in all USU locations, and our clinicians are housed on multiple sites, with the main office located on Logan campus. CAPS has been accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) since 1996. Our mid-size team is composed of professionals from psychology and social work, and we have robust training programs, including a doctoral internship accredited by the American Psychological Association and practicums in doctoral combined clinical and counseling psychology.
CAPS offers a range of services, including individual and group therapy, assessment, crisis appointments, case management, and wellness promotion.
