We're continuing to invest heavily in building the best creator products with the best team in the creator economy and are looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to support our mission.

This role is based in New York or San Francisco and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.

About the Role

Lead and contribute to the design and development of products that enhance the experience of Patreon creators

Advocate for best patterns and practices in the areas of system design, performance, and testing

Drive clarity and alignment on technical vision and direction

Advocate for engineering systems and solutions that will accelerate product development in the long-run

Work with a fully cross functional team to define and deliver new product features

Build a strong product-minded engineering culture by mentoring and guiding engineers

About You

10+ years of experience in backend  software development

In depth knowledge of Python, PHP, Java or a similar general purpose language

Strong understanding of web servers, API design frameworks, and data modeling

Excellent communication skills to facilitate requirements gathering, decision-making, and knowledge sharing.

Holds a high standard of quality and craft with an eye for UX and engineering detail

A track record of building systems with attention to detail, high reliability, and high throughput

Penchant for solving complex requirements with elegant and simple solutions
