Staff Data Scientist-Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs)
**Description** ARA is seeking a Staff Data Scientist with a background in unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) systems to support US Navy UUV Modeling, simulation, and testing efforts. Seeking an individual with a deep understanding of unmanned underwater vehicle systems (Remotely operated and autonomous vehicles), machine learning, and AI to assist a research team in finding solutions for current UUVs and discovering new capabilities. As a Staff Data Scientist, you will be involved in the analysis of unstructured/semi-structured data related to unmanned underwater vehicles. **Required Experience and Expertise** + A bachelor's degree and 2-4 years' experience developing, managing, preparing, processing, analyzing, visualizing, and evaluating large datasets from UUVs and underwater environments. + U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance. + Experience using AI and ML methods to support evaluation, modeling, and predicting UUV and underwater environment behaviors. + Experience connecting dissimilar data types (data fusion) and translating data between digital and physical spaces (modeling and simulation vs test and evaluation). + Experience developing, modifying, and/or troubleshooting UUV control/behavior in both digital and physical environments based on sensor and environment data. + Experience preparing research reports, technical proposals, formal presentations, and reading/interpretating data. + Proficiency with MS Office Suite and software development programs such as Linux/Java, Python and visual analytics tools such as Microsoft Pivot. + Ability to work independently or in a diverse team setting. **Preferred experience** + Working with U.S. Navy UUVs or similar. + Working with the Naval Autonomy Test System (NATS), NATS Integrated Management System (NIMS), and/or Virtual Maritime Autonomy Test Environment (VMATE). + Experience developing and/or using Tactical Awareness Kit (TAK) applications. + Experience preparing, analyzing, and utilizing data for digital twin environments. + Active DoD Security Clearance.
