Staff Designer - Platform Design
The Platform Design team's mission is to fuel innovation through design. We shape a world-class platform and craft inclusive solutions that empower diverse audiences within the Spotify ecosystem and beyond. We champion design excellence across the Platform mission, collaborating with teams to elevate the quality and impact of our products and services.
In this role, you will define the end-to-end services, tools, and platforms for our internal R&D teams and external customers. This is a hands-on practitioner role where you'll have the opportunity to influence the direction of business-critical initiatives and customer journeys across Spotify.
You will work closely with collaborators from business, product, design, and technology areas to help Spotify teams improve their capabilities and approaches. Additionally, you will contribute to the creation of forward-thinking visions and strategies. Your efforts will support the expansion of Spotify's product and service offerings, catering to both major product development companies and individual developers.What You'll Do Lead the definition and delivery of service and product design projectsCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams, designers, researchers, and business partners to build coherent end-to-end servicesShow the value of a multidisciplinary perspective, and build upon the expertise of our dedicated design teamHelp define the vision for the Spotify development experience and the growth of future Backstage value propositionsConduct research to inform internal tools, processes, and capabilities required to deliver on customer experiences, platform initiatives, and strategiesDefine and visualise current and future customer experiences with relevant artefacts such as service standards, frameworks, personas, maps and blueprints, and customer experience strategiesRapidly design, prototype, and test concepts for services and products based on a deep understanding of business and customer needs, channels, and technologyPlan and lead co-creation workshops and community events with internal and external customer teams, collaborators, distribution partners, and open-source usersYou’ll be an advocate for and help support our Design Systems strategy and will drive it forward with an iterative approach in mindHelp service owners and partners identify and understand bottlenecks and make recommendations to drive improvementsLead design practice rituals and develop new standards to mature the craft of the Platform design teamShow - don’t tell. Use the power of rendering and crafted storytelling to support product excellence, innovation and team alignmentWho You AreExtensive experience in crafting products and services - preferably within the Enterprise tech sector with a high level of visual and UI experience. (Agency experience is an advantage)Track record of crafting functional but also beautiful experiences that users loveEqually comfortable working through sophisticated flows, crafting visually stunning interfaces, storytelling through motion, and all the fields of design required to support the workData-informed - recommendations and design work are deeply rooted in experimentation and evidenceComfortable starting from ambiguity and driving clarity from complexity. Works autonomously or within a design squadBalances user and business centricity equallyOutstanding communicator, storyteller, and facilitator.
