Staff ECAD Solutions Engineer – PLM & Product Development Systems

Role Summary The Staff ECAD Solutions Engineer will play a pivotal role within Rivian’s PLM & Product Development Systems team, focusing on the architecture and support of critical ECAD tools, including Cadence OrCAD, Cadence Allegro, and Altium Designer. This individual will act as a liaison between engineering, IT, enterprise technology teams, and software vendors, driving technical solutions and integrations for Rivian's Electrical Engineering teams. In this role, you will apply your deep knowledge of electrical engineering and Electrical Design Automation (EDA) applications to support and enhance our ECAD infrastructure, collaborating across teams to improve our design, layout, and component engineering workflows. You will also be responsible for ensuring robust ECAD library management and facilitating smooth application support, upgrades, and integration with our supply chain data. This role is located at our Palo Alto, CA or Irvine, CA facility and reports directly to a Sr. Manager, PLM Solutions. Responsibilities Serve as the subject matter expert and architect for ECAD tool ecosystems, including Cadence OrCAD, Cadence Allegro, and Altium Designer. Act as the liaison between engineering teams, IT, enterprise technology teams, and software vendors to ensure seamless integration and alignment of ECAD tools with Rivian’s design and PLM processes. Design and implement integrations for electrical and New Product Introduction (NPI) supply chain data, streamlining data flows for efficiency and accuracy. Facilitate ECAD library management, ensuring high data integrity and consistency across electrical design and component engineering teams. Architect and support solutions for PCB layout, schematic design, and component engineering, addressing both day-to-day and long-term application needs. Work closely with the engineering community to provide application support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely upgrades to maintain tool effectiveness and security. Drive continuous improvement initiatives for ECAD architecture, including evaluating new technologies and methodologies to enhance tool performance and usability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align ECAD system functionality with broader enterprise objectives, ensuring a cohesive and well-integrated design and development environment. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 7+ years of experience with ECAD tools, specifically Cadence OrCAD, Cadence Allegro, and Altium Designer. Strong background in Electrical Design Automation (EDA), PCB design, and architecture of electrical design applications. Experience with ECAD library management and supply chain data integrations. Proven ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams, acting as a bridge between engineering, IT, and external vendors. Familiarity with NPI processes and integration of ECAD systems with enterprise systems. Experience with project management and the ability to lead ECAD tool upgrades and enhancements. Pay Disclosure Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $167,400-$209,300 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
