We are looking for a Staff Manufacturing Engineer - Automation with deep expertise in industrial automation to lead the transformation of low-volume, manual production lines into a digitally enabled, semi-automated or fully automated factory. This role will report to Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering and based in Newark, DE.  This is a fully on-site, in office role.

Role and Responsibilities:

Serve as the technical authority for automation architecture, controls integration, and vendor selection/management, driving the deployment of scalable, cost-effective, and reliable automation solutions.Develop and execute a multi-phase automation roadmap aligned with business goals (manual to semi-automated/full automation).Own the full lifecycle of automation projects through RFQ, Design Review, FAT/SAT, Commissioning and Handover.Engineer, develop, budget and deliver sections of a pilot platform that demonstrates clear scalability in a matrix format as needed. Prepare all the documentation needed for a smooth and fast high-volume roll-out of the integrated manufacturing solution.Use broad advanced automation experience to identify and evaluate Proof of Concepts that deliver our process requirements meeting the UPH, capex and throughput per sqft requirements as set forward by the managementPlay a key role in the industrialization of mature Bloom Energy process nodes, enabling their integration into a scalable, highly automated, and Industry 4.0-compliant manufacturing ecosystem.Participate in the design of an integrated smart manufacturing data collection and processing platform to drastically reduce our dependency on direct and indirect laborLead the debugging of the pilot line till it meets the yield, cost and throughput requirements.  Prepare all the documentation needed for a smooth and fast high-volume roll-out of the integrated manufacturing solution.

Skills and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.Over 5 years in deploying turnkey automation in discrete manufacturing environmentsExperience implementing vision-guided robotics using Cognex Insight, Keyence CV-X/NX, or FANUC iRVision for defect detection applications.Proven proficiency in leading technical discussions with automation vendors and system integrators (Jendamark, ATS Automation, JR Automation, Genesis Systems, Bosch Rexroth, Omron, Beckhoff).Familiarity with IIoT sensors, edge devices, and data acquisition systems (e.g., Kepware, OSIsoft PI, Siemens MindSphere).Led multiple projects involving integrating metrology and data collection in fully automated production lines.  Knowledgeable on Industry 4.0 ready software architectures and solutions.Experience with greenfield and brownfield automation projects.
