As a Staff Mechanical Engineer – Product Transfer within Stryker Instruments, you will support successful product transfers by ensuring design quality, optimizing costs, and improving services for our customers, all while maintaining compliance with both internal and external standards

You will need to live within commuting distance to our Portage, Michigan office.
You will need to be in the office 3-4 days a week and can work from home on other days.
What you will do:
Provide design support to Product Transfers globally, (Supplier to Supplier, Supplier to Stryker, Stryker to Supplier, Stryker to Stryker).
Provide interpretation and guidance on Regulations, Corporate and Site Local procedures as they relate to design activities such as FMEA, MSA’s, Validations and Qualifications.
Point of contact for design for Product transfers at Scoping, Planning and Execution phases.
Enable successful completion of Product Transfer to achieve quality, cost and time requirements.
Identify Product transfer quality risks/gaps and provide solutions to correct.
Act as the technical design Subject Matter Expert (SME) that sets strategy by utilizing a risk-based approach around Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, prints, First Article Inspections, Critical Quality Attributes, leveraging etc.
Mentore junior engineers and will provide leadership and technical guidance to the wider product engineering team.
Liaison between advanced process development and supply chain personnel for the specification and sourcing of raw materials and suppliers.
Communicate with suppliers, advanced manufacturing engineering and advanced operations to resolve issues and optimize design for manufacturability and efficiency. Will ensure designs are cost efficient, manufacturable and reliable.
Analyse products to create value engineering proposals which reduce manufacturing cost or add value to the customer.
What you need
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical engineering, quality engineering, sustaining engineering, project management, or a related field within a highly regulated industry
Computer-Aided Design (CAD) experience (Creo preferred)
